Living in Sukhumvit with a Dog: Brunch at Sun Society

Garden-facing dining room at Sun Society, Sukhumvit 31

If you have a dog in Bangkok, you know the routine. You find a cafe that looks good, then spend ten minutes checking whether they'll let you in. On Sukhumvit, where most places are small and air-conditioned, the answer is often no.

A neighbourhood detail that matters when choosing a home

For residents choosing a home around Sukhumvit, everyday places can matter as much as the apartment itself. A cafe where you can bring your dog adds a practical weekend option and a chance to spend time in the neighbourhood. Sun Society is one address to explore when getting a feel for life around Soi 31 and Phrom Phong. Loft Thai is also now open on site, adding massage and wellness treatments to the neighbourhood’s everyday amenities.

A pet-friendly cafe does not mean every nearby condominium accepts pets. Before renting or buying, check the building’s current rules on animals, lifts and shared spaces, as well as the actual walking route from the property. Browse our Bangkok property collection and ask about the individual building’s pet policy rather than assuming it from the neighbourhood.

Sun Society confirms that the venue is pet friendly. Before arriving, call 082 202 9669 to check permitted seating areas, water bowls and any size or leash requirements; these details have not yet been confirmed for this feature.

For a pet-friendly brunch in Bangkok, Sun Society on Sukhumvit Soi 31 welcomes dogs. It opened in November as an all-day brunch house and was pet friendly from day one.

Why it works with a dog

  • Early hours. Doors open at 07:00, so you can come straight from the morning walk, before the heat.
  • Parking on site. Ten spaces, so a dog who doesn't love taxis isn't a problem. That's rare on Sukhumvit.
  • A garden. An outdoor cinema is planned for December; check the programme before visiting.
  • No rush. The venue advertises no time limit on tables. Ask which seating areas are available with a dog before settling in.

What is on the brunch menu

The chef is Rafael Garcia, who opened Scuba and was pastry chef at the Michelin-starred Cadence by Dan Bark. The menu runs all day, and the salmon waffle is the one to order first.

Doesn't break the bank

Most plates are 150 to 300 baht, so a weekend brunch with the dog can become a weekly one.

Coffee from Chiang Rai

The coffee is single origin, bought directly from a farm in Srima, in the mountains of Chiang Rai. It's run by Joe and Mild, a young couple who came home to take over their grandparents' farm. Working with local Thai farmers was a choice the founders made from day one. (The farm's story)
